Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about an APT product?  The APT support technicians have put this list of frequently asked questions together to form a knowledge base.  Look here first for answers to your questions.

  1. I install Beyond FTP on my WinNT 4.0 Server and when I run services it says that it cannot find WININET.DLL or SHLWAPI.DLL or both.  Where do these files normally come from and what do they do?  How do I get them?

These files are distributed with Internet Explorer 3.0 and 4.0.  Beyond FTP uses WININET.DLL to provide a consistent interface to WSock32 and the Internet.  WININET.DLL uses functions in SHLWAPI.DLL to access the windows registry.  Download these files and install them in the Beyond FTP installation directory.

    Download WININET.DLL now.
    Download SHLWAPI.DLL now.

  2. I have Beyond FTP version 2.0.0 what does Beyond FTP version 2.1.0 have in it that I may need?

Beyond FTP 2.1.0 has several user interface enhancements.   Beyond FTP Address Books may be imported or exported.  WeekDays and WeekEnds script keywords have been added for greater flexibility in scheduling repetitive scripts.   Beyond FTP also supports two plug-ins that greatly improve transfer diagnostics and script editing.

Beyond FTP 2.1.0 also provides fixes for problems encountered in version 2.0.0.

    Fixes:

FTP file archiving and synchronization operate correctly.

The most important enhancement is a completely new help system with extensive graphical support that simulates the operation of the program. Context sensitive help is also available at the window and dialog level. You engage this feature with the F1 key.

    The script language extensions include:

New Repeat_Time options for distinguishing weekdays and weekends
    File presence checking at Sync_points.
Conditional processing depending on the status of a Sync_point.
Ability to send pages and mail from a script with the Alert command.
Alternate command forms with clearer meanings.

The enhancements in the File Distribution and Collection Program include:

Support for the new Script Language Constructs.
Support for creating mail and page alerts.
    Improved Script Editing
